Every supplier shall be liable to be registered under this Act in the State or Union territory, other than special category States, from where he makes a taxable supply of goods or services or both, if his aggregate turnover in a financial year exceeds twenty lakh rupees. GST is a destination based tax i.e. the tax should be received by the state in which the goods or services are consumed and not by the state in which such goods are manufactured. Central GST (CGST) and State GST (SGST) are levied on intra-state supply of goods and services, where supply of goods and services happens within the state. CGST will go to the centre and SGST will go to the state. Integrated GST (IGST) is levied on inter-state supply of goods and services, where supply of goods and services happens from one state to another and on import of goods.
GST registration acts as a secondary or primary proof of Business Registration in India.
GST registration is mandatory only if the Aggregate Turnover exceeds Rs 7.5 Lacs in a Financial Year.
GST Registration is compulsory to sell from one State to another State in India.
